The 2023 World Curling Rules of Curling, with the exceptions detailed, will apply to all games. Sweepers will not be required to use World Curling-compliant brush heads. Stick and wheelchair curlers are welcome at this event.

The hammer in the 1st end will be determined by a coin toss.

Vices are to measure rocks. If necessary, contact an official or neutral third party if you are unable to agree on a measure. Note that you may measure a free guard stone with the 6’ measure stick, if agreement cannot be reached on whether it is touching the house. No other stones can be measured until the completion of an end.

After the game ends, please make sure the final score is posted on the scoreboard. A WCCC member will log the final score and reset the scoreboard.

1. Each team will play in a pool of 4. There will be a round robin among those 4 teams. During pool play, games may end in a tie.
2. After round robin, each team will be ranked 1-4 in their pool. If there are ties in standings, the tiebreakers will be determined in the following order:
   • Head-to-Head
   • Draw-To-Button (DTB)
   • Point Differential
   • Points Scored
   • Coin Flip
3. After pool standings are completed, all 24 teams will be ranked for the bracket playoffs. Rankings will be determined in the following order:
   • Pool Ranking
   • Win Loss Record
   • DTB
   • Point Differential
   • Total Points Scored
   • Coin Flip
4. The 8 highest ranked teams will advance to the A Bracket. Teams ranked 9-16 will be seeded in the B playoff bracket and teams ranked 17-24 will be seeded in the C playoff bracket. All playoff bracket games will be single elimination.
5. The DTB measurements are to be done after each team’s first 2 games. One person will throw a DTB after game 1 and a different person will throw after game 2. Either clockwise or counterclockwise rotations can be thrown for either of the DTB attempts. Both measurements will be added together to determine the final DTB measurement. Offensive sweeping is allowed. If the rock covers the pin, the DTB is zero. If the rock misses the house, the DTB is 199.6 centimeters.
6. The bell will ring 1 hour 30 minutes into the game, at which point you may complete your current end and play one more. An end is not considered started until the 1st rock is in play. Please be mindful of our time constraints. We only have 30 minutes to prepare the ice in between games, so if you cannot finish another end in the allotted time, please do not begin it.

1. The bell will ring 1 hour 30 minutes into the game for all bracket/playoff games, except for the Finals. The Finals should go the full 8 ends, unless a team concedes (shakes) before the 8th end.
2. All games will be single elimination.
3. If both teams agree, games may begin before the designated draw time provided that all the sheets have been completely prepared for play.
4. In the bracket/playoffs, games that are tied after time expires will be determined by a tie-breaking draw to the button. Any member may throw their team’s single rock in the tie-breaker. Offensive sweeping is allowed. The rock closest to the pin, by measure if necessary, will be the winner. The team that normally would not have had the hammer, if another end was to be played, is to go first. If neither stone makes it into the house, the process is to be repeated until a winner is declared.
5. In the finals, if the score is tied at the end of 8 ends, then an extra end will be played. If the 9th end ends in a tie, then skip stones will be thrown. Any curler can throw the stone and sweeping is allowed.

"No Tick Shot" rules:

If, prior to the delivery of the sixth stone of an end, a delivered stone causes either directly or indirectly, an opposition stone in the Free Guard Zone (FGZ) which is touching the center line to be moved to an off-center line position or to a position outside the FGZ, the non-offending team has the option to:

(i) Remove the delivered stone from play, and replace all stones that were displaced to their positions prior to the violation taking place; or

(ii) Leave all stones where they came to rest. If the stone is moved from the center line to an out-of-play position, then the FGZ rule applies.

If there is any doubt as to whether or not the stone touches the line, use the right-angle triangle to measure it. Simply place the corner of the triangle on the center-line and if it also touches the stone, then the stone is automatically in the no-tick zone.

The game ends if a team is arithmetically eliminated in the last end.

A team can only concede when it is their turn.

If a game ends by arithmetically elimination or concession the score is determined as:

• Score Xs unless only one rock remains unthrown and is the same color as rocks currently scoring.

There is a limit on the amount of times that Billy can yell “pull” and then raise his broom like a shotgun. It’s 4 times for the whole weekend. Please notify security if he abuses this rule.
