Barrel 2020
Since we can’t play the games in person, we’ll be “simulating” the Barrel over the course of this weekend. Thank you all for your patience during all of these COVID-19 updates. With urging from the USCA, the Wine Country Curling Club board has made the difficult decision to cancel The Barrel Bonspiel that was to be held March 27-29, 2020 at Skatetown Ice.
At this time, we are unsure if we will be able to move it to another weekend, so for now, we consider it canceled.
As an arena club renting ice, the board did not come to this decision lightly. We feel it’s important to shut down for the safety of our members and the community. We referenced the guidelines provided by the Placer County Public Health, the California Department of Healthy, and the CDC to assist in our decision.
For those that have paid their registration fee, all refunds will be paid out in the next few days. I’ve also spoken with the host hotel and they will not be charging any cancellation penalties to our curlers.
Again, thank you for your patience and understanding as these are unprecedented times. I wish good health to all of you and hope that we are all back on the ice sooner rather than later.
