Wine Country Curling Club is proud to announce that The Crush Bonspiel will return to Skatetown Ice in Roseville, California on Labor Day Weekend!

The Crush Bonspiel is an international bonspiel (Bonspiel = Curling Tournament with Wine) and has been held every Labor Day weekend since 2006 (except for a brief hiatus in 2015).

Initially the Crush was frequented by a small contingent of mid-westerners and Canadians transplanted or on loan to California from their respective regions. As time went on and curling grew in California and the West, more people found out about this unique Labor Day weekend event. In a sports competition where new curlers can play competitively against seasoned veterans and Olympians, the Crush began to grow – and the world took notice.

Initially it took four to six months to line up a 16- or 24-team bonspiel, but in 2013 and 2014, the Crush filled up with 40 teams in less than 72 hours.

The Crush boasts of the “Best Arena Curling Ice” in the universe and attracts teams from all over the globe. (Of course the fact that you can go to the ice rink in shorts and a t-shirt, spend a little time tasting wine, or just laying by the pool in 85+ degrees temperature doesn’t hurt either.)

Interested in participating? Take a vacation in Northern California and spend a few days curling against some of the best (and some new) curlers on the continent, drink a little wine, see the famed Sierra mountains, and enjoy the warm California sunshine.

For more information, contact Katie Feldman at We will update this page as we confirm more details (hotels, restaurants, draws, schedule of events, etc).
